FAQ

Pricing?

A Home Performance Assessment is $300 – $600 depending on size, distance, program participation, etc.  I can provide a more detailed proposal over the phone during scheduling.

Are incentives available to Homeowners?

As of April 1, 2012, Focus on Energy has shifted its incentive structure to reward Contractors.  Homeowners are no longer eligible to receive incentives.  Please review the Fact Sheet here for more information.

What about the Federal tax credit?

Please visit energystar.gov for more information about tax credits.  The summary: the Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit (10% of materials up to $1500.00) has been shelved for 2012.  A renewable system may qualify.  Please consult with your tax preparer.

Availability?

I’m usually booking out by about 2-3 weeks.

Do you provide a prioritized list?

Yes.  You will receive a full report with a prioritized list and detailed explanations.  Many homeowners and local contractors appreciate the clarity and common sense built into each of my reports.

I don’t need a Home Performance Assessment.  Can I hire you on an hourly basis for consulting?

Yes.  Pricing will vary by the job.

Do you recommend contractors?

Yes.  See About > Local Contractors for a partial list of skilled craftspeople with whom I consult on a regular basis.
